Cor Anglais

The Cor Anglais is made of wood with metallic mechanism, and as with the oboe, a double reed is used as a sound source. The mouthpiece is formed by two opposing reeds. The cor anglais is one of the oldest instrument types.

The cor anglais is tuned in F, thus the written material is to be transposed perfect fifth up. The cor anglais has deeper sound compared to the oboe, which makes it more solistic in comparison.

Recommended combinations:

The cor anglais with flute
The cor anglais with bassoon
The cor anglais with a reed instrument
The cor anglais with a string instrument
