Bass drum

The bass drum is used in the orchestra to achieve a powerful effect, because of its broad overpowering and deep sound. The contemporary bass drum has two skins and is played with mallets manufactured of either felt or leather. The bass drum stand is in either vertical or horizontal position. A bass drum tremolo is often used which gives a wide rumbling sound.
