Temple blocks

The temple blocks are made of hollowed out wood and are mostly hand-held. The sound emanates from the sides of the block. It is usually played with felt or wooden mallets. Soft sticks produce an almost attackless sound leaving an hollow and echoing sound.

The sound of the temple blocks works well orchestrated with other percussion instuments. It can also be used to accompany pitched instruments.
