Providing a striking contrast to the music of Lepo Sumera steeped in richly-imaginative timbres is the pure, tranquil, minimalist ambiance of Arvo Pärt. The evening ends with one of the best-known – and possibly for this very reason less frequently performed – works in the entire concert repertoire, Mozart’s Symphony No. 40.
